Obituary for Naaman Bush

Naaman Bush
Naaman Charles Bush

94, of Tantallon. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our father on August 25, 2017 in the arms of his eldest daughter Jeanette at her home. Born in West Dublin he was the son of the late Angus and Harriet (Ward) Bush. Naaman was born and grew up in West Dublin, NS. From an early age, he enjoyed all things related to fishing. As a teenager, he worked for Himmelman’s O.K. Service ships from Lahave followed by service as a Merchant Marine, during WWII. During teh war Naaman married the love of his life, Norma Ernst, of Lahave, NS. Naaman and Norma moved to Tantallon in 1946, where they would raise their three children. During that time, he worked in construction and fished lobster as his passion. He took great joy in puttering around his home and gardens. Naaman was a member of St. Luke’s United Church, Upper Tantallon, where he made many friends over the years. His beautiful singing voice could be heard from the choir and later in the congregation. He loved his outings to the White Caps and playing cards at any opportunity, often with his Homecare worker and friend Germaine. During his last 8 months, he was supported and entertained by the staff of 4 East at Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, Halifax. Naaman is survived by his son, Carman (Dianne), Edmonton; daughters, Jeanette (Frank) Stone and Cheryl (Dennis) O'Rourke, both of Stillwater Lake; grandchildren, Bonnie (Clark), Jennifer (Mark) and Erin; great grandchildren, Brett and Keely; He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was predeceased by his wife Norma, brothers; Ted, Basil, Oswald, Calvin, Melbourne; sisters; Ruth, Lillian, Florence, Margaret, Beatrice, Dorothy and Helen. The family will receive visitors between 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 30th in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Road, Tantallon. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 31st in St. Luke's United Church, Upper Tantallon. Burial to follow in William Black Memorial Cemetery, Glen Margaret.
