Lester Ross McEachern
91, Boutiliers Point passed away peacefully, February 23rd, 2018, at the QE II with family by his side. He was a son of the late Donald & Eurnice McEachern, and is survived by his wife of 66 years Barbara (Cavicchi). Lester was a loving father to sons Kevin (Evelyn), Jeff, daughter Sheila all of Boutiliers Point, and daughter Sue (Andrea) of Cole Harbour. A wonderful Poppy to grandchildren Catherine, Matthew, Stephanie, Nicholas, Andrea & Brianna, and great-grandchildren Taylor & Beckham. Also survived by sister-in-law, Clarice, and many nieces and nephews, who were as special to him as his own children. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Carl, (Mary), Duncan, (Rose), Harry, Cecil, and Gordon in infancy. He was a carpenter with Smith & McEachern, and built many churches and homes in the area, An avid gardener, fisherman, and hunter. He was a member of St. Margaret's Bay Cribbage League for 47 years, and an active member and dedicated warden of St. James' Church for 50 years. He also built and operated Islandview Motel. He gave generously of his time to the Community, by his involvement in the Recreation Association with the the ballfield and rink. His love of children inspired sponsorship through the Christian Childrens Fund of Canada for over 50 years. Currently 5 year old Emily. Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 27th, 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Road, Upper Tantallon. Celebration of Lester's Life and committal will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 28th, at St. James' Church, Boutiliers Point. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prescott House, 3430 Prescott Street, Halifax, B3K 4Y4, or St. James' Church, 6991 St. Margaret's Bay Road, Boutiliers Point, B3Z 1W4.
